CARN GALVA COMMON LAND RE-REGISTRATION

Please support Application No. 2792 to re-register part of Carn Galva [Galver] as Common Land

Says Ian Cooke

Says Ian Cooke Save Penwith Moors has initiated an application to re-register a large part of Carn Galva as Common Land – the first of several such applications for West Penwith moorland. This will give the area far better protection from any future development (permanent fencing/gates, farm sheds etc) as any changes will require public consultation and consent from the Secretary of State.

Although four objections have so far been lodged against re-registration, the National Trust General Manager for this area has emailed me to say the Trust will not be objecting to this Common Land designation, “as they generally welcome any extra protection for these very special landscapes”.

We need individual letters of support so please send your views – quoting Application No. 2792 with your name and address – to

The Commons Registration Officer
Cornwall Council
Room F2.06
Circuit House
St. Clement Street
Truro TR1 1DT

or e-mail: commonsandgreens@cornwall.gov.uk

I fully support Application No. 2792 to re-register part of Carn Galva [Galver] as Common Land since it is a prime example of beautiful open access heathland that should be protected from any unwarranted development in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; it is a popular area for recreational walkers and horse riders and represents Cornwall’s unique heritage as much as more obvious architectural and archaeological remains.
